Located just east of Moyo Island, Saleh Bay is known as the home of the second-largest Whale shark population on earth with at least 99 known whale sharks inhabiting its waters year-round. UNESCO also recognised the presence of whale sharks in the bay, having added the area to its Biosphere Reserve list in 2019.

Here, whale sharks and fishermen live in harmony. Just before sunrise, fishermen lift nets and collects their catch of sardines and cuttlefish for sale in local markets. As fishes and grills are lifted from the sea bottom, whale sharks take this opportunity to feed on free meals. This practice has been on-going for the last decades, with whale sharks and fishermen co-exist in peace.
Reconnect with Nature
After an adrenaline-rushing swim with whale sharks, slow down and relax in the afternoon. In the lush forests of Moyo lies an example of nature at its finest, Matajitu Waterfall. It comprises a series of cascading limestone pools at the very heart of the island deep in the tropical forest. The spring-fed water of the pools is as pure as it comes, perfect for a drink and a refreshing swim to escape the heat.
